INTRODUCTION TO SCENT DETECTION

WHAT do we teach in an introduction?
In Scent Detection Introduction, 5 week class you will learn different search games and strategies to build your dog's search motivation. Strong foundation can set them up for success in their detection future.
You will be able to play these nose exercises at home as well, and they will be beneficial for your dog's enrichment as well as their stamina building. That also means you will discover a new game to tire your dog out, physically AND mentally! Sniffing is hard work! You will also develop skills as a handler. This class requires basic mobility skills from the handler, like walking backwards , sideways, and turning, so basic balance shouldn't be an issue in order to enjoy this class and get the full benefit of our lessons together.
Learning objectives:
- Search motivation
- Environmental conditioning
- Environment sharing with other dogs
- Start signal shaping
- Mechanical and fitness skills for the detection nose and the body!
Requirements:
Your dog should be able to crate or stay in the car while waiting for their turn to work. You can bring an extra person for your dog's company if needed.
No temperament restrictions for this class.
There is homework in this class :)
After successful completion of Introduction to Scent Detection you can join bi-weekly detection classes and challenges with us.
Cost: $165 for 4 or 5-week class (in a 4 week class each meeting will be a 15 minutes longer)
INTRODUCTION TO MANTRAILING

What will you learn in introduction to mantrailing?
In an Introduction Class I will teach you all the necessary exercises to start you on a successful trail.
Introduction consists of an evening Zoom meeting (75-90 min) and an all morning class of 3.5 hours. Theory and practical exercises to prepare teams to start Mantrailing are shared over the online and in person meetings. Also your first short trails will all happen in the Introduction class!
You will learn all the basics: brief understanding of canine olfaction, how to safely handle a long line, teach your dog to take scent of an object, and get your dog trailing for a human.
I prefer to split introduction into Zoom theory meeting and morning practical class. This is how we compress exposure to heat for our dogs, as we comfortably learn theory part from our homes. Next morning you will bring your dogs to the practical part of the Introduction, and you will be set to join the fun of Mantrailing community!
Intro class will be available on as needed basis when we gather a group of 4-5 new starting teams. Please inquire by email or Facebook Mantrailing Florida Group. Intro class is a prerequisite for working as a team in Mantrailing progressions class. We call them progressions, as you keep building skills and progressing your foundations.
We welcome outsiders to come and hide for our teams during trainings and classes.
After successful completion of Introduction to Mantrailing, each participant will be added to our private Facebook Group FL Mantrailing where we share training videos, questions, training schedule and more.
Cost: $250
cost will increase if traveling to a different location to include extra expense
Progression in Mantrailing grows on solid foundations, fun, and experience. These are the elements that we will be building in our training classes. Each team will be able to work in a variety of scenarios and complexities during the training. Everyone will be supported with productive amount of challenge while maintaining high motivation for the game of Mantrailing.
The keen teams will be encouraged to keep progression logs and teams will be able to earn badges as they grow their Mantrailing journey. Badges and progression plans are not mandatory at all, but are available for the eager teams.
Cost: $35 per each trail. Usually 8 trails available in total per regular Progression class. Aged trails over 15 minutes = $45
Aged trails 30 min or more = $50

I have designed a reactivity group class for the over the top, reactive, hyper vigilant dogs. Living with such dogs is not for the weak, and proper skills are crucial for surviving and thriving with a reactive dog in your stewardship. All participants for this class are to sign up via Waitlist, have a zoom pre-session with instructor who will decide which group the dog will fit in the best.
If you would like to participate in this class in the future, you can send me an email. This is homework heavy class. Participants also get online support between classes.
Cost: $250 for 6 week class
